I received this from a friend of mine to try. Â It is an old metal link that Phil Barone worked on at one time. Â It has the Barone engraving on it and the link ridge is gone as Phil does when he refaces a link. Â You can’t tell it use to be a link except by looking at the bite plate. Â This piece was then worked on by Dave Jary who refaced it to .104 and put a rollover baffle in it.

This piece has a very centered core sound to it and can be pretty powerful when pushed. Â It has one of those in your face type sounds. Â I consider it a great all round piece although I think I would prefer it around a .110 opening. It isn’t as bright as my JVW metal link. Â It was fun to play it.

I have a Jary Custom Link somewhat similar to this in a .110 facing. I agree that this mouthpiece is centered and can be loud when pushed. However, I find it odd that you classified this as ‘high baffle’ ?! I would say medium baffled at the most. Can you explain.
Dave, I did this review years ago and then later when I changed the website decided to put the piece in categories of low baffle, high baffle and medium baffle. I think you are right and this would be a medium baffle. I’ll change it. Thanks, Steve
