Here is a killer Chad LB (Lefkowitz-Brown) lick that I picked up off of a Youtube video below. Chad is trying out and comparing a D’Addario tenor saxophone mouthpiece to his own SYOS Chad LB tenor saxophone mouthpiece. At the 4:02-4:06 mark, Chad plays a great modern “Breckeresque” type line that I immediately decided I needed to transcribe. Hope you enjoy it!

Hi Steve, In the mouthpiece comparison, Chad mentions that the SYOS Chad LB model has an “air curtain” that makes the sub tones especially lush. Do you know what he mean by this, and have you experienced this when playing the mouthpiece?
It does sound nice. Also, how do you think it stacks up against pieces like the Saxscape Downtown MB1 in terms of brightness, flexibility and ability to play with lushness for jazz sets?

Brian, I have never heard the term “air curtain” before but I assume he is talking about the lined ridges on the bottom of the baffle before the chamber starts. I don’t think I have seen these in any other mouthpiece. The subtones were certainly nice in my opinion.
As far as a comparison to the Saxscape Downtown MB1, I think they were in a similar ballpark tone wise. I had them at different times so it is hard to compare exactly. I think the SYOS had a fatter tone though from how I remember it. You would have to listen back to the soundclips and compare how they sound though. Thanks, Steve
