Chris Potter playing the alto saxophone at 15………….

Here’s an interesting video I just found the other day!  This is Chris Potter playing a gig when he was 15 years old!   Chris Potter is one of the top tenor saxophone player’s in the world right now.  It is so interesting to hear where he was at when he was just 15 years old.  Even at that age I can already hear some of the elements that have matured into the Chris Potter we know today.  He’s already playing and experimenting with rhythmic ideas and flying all over the horn much like he still does today…………Enjoy!

I like how he cultivated his alto sound to the max total tone control then he seemed to grow into the tenor, the sound remained the same signature voice . Rico reed too I bet love how he doesn’t sweat that stuff like mulligan didn’t sweat the mouth piece spend time practicing instead
