Tips on Playing Jazz Standards Lesson

So often I hear new students of mine come in and play a jazz standard from the “Real Book” without any feeling or swing to it. This lesson deals with some of the tips that I give students who are trying to play standards. Many of the standards in the “Real Book” if just played as written are dry and lifeless. With a little bit of tweaking with tips from this lesson you can play them in a way that is fresh and swinging. I demonstrate on 3 standards. “All The Things You Are “, “Autumn Leaves” and Beautiful Love”.  I demonstrate all concept on the tenor sax. (Video)
