This is the Early Babbitt Otto Link I have posted about before. The last SP otto link I got that Brian Powell had worked on was a .110 and I loved it. I t just felt like the tip opening was where I felt the most comfortable. I sent this Early Babbitt Otto Link (.105) back to Brian and asked him to change it to a .110. I was nervous because I really liked the piece and was afraid I was opening it too much. I got it back from Brian and it plays better than before for me. The .110 opening allows me to blow as much air as I have into this piece and get crazy volume. It’s got a HUGE sound!
I’m pretty sure you can’t hear a difference between it and the other recordings of it on here but in person and playing wise it’s a huge difference. It has more volume than it did before and the recording kept clipping when I would play loud so I had to back a few feet away to record it. I’ve played this piece for a week now. This is without a doubt my main piece. Don’t worry, I’ll never stop trying other pieces! Thanks Brian. Again!!

I like your tone best on this piece. Maybe it’s because you’re more comfortable with it than you are with the ones you’re ‘just trying out’, but it definitely shows both with the sound and in your phrasing. You sound more ‘confident’ with this EB Link than most of your other clips. Not that you don’t sound great everywhere else, but if I didn’t know this was your own mouthpiece, I’d suggest that this is the one you should keep… 🙂

What I loved most about it is it really went how I wanted it. Spread or focused, tried different reeds, different sounds. These piece have that slightly dark but HUGE POWERFUL guts that make it great. Beautiful sounding piece
