Beginner Alto Sax-Lesson 8

This is the 8th lesson in a series on learning how to play the saxophone from the very beginning. This series of lessons will be focused on learning the fundamentals of playing the saxophone and developing good habits. This series will be primarily out of the Essential Elements 2000 Book 1 for alto saxophone so you will need that book to work out of.  I take you through page 14-15 in the Essential Elements book and talk about the things to be aware of when practicing these pages. I talk about the use of ties in music, what a dot on a note means, the 3/4 time signature, how to play accents, counting of simple rhythms, tricks to playing low notes, the new note of low “D” and how to practice playing softly with long tones.  (Video)
