This is a NY link that I won off ebay that was advertised as worked on by Theo Wanne. When I received this piece it was a 7*. It had a nice sound but I felt that when I pushed it hard it got too bright and harsh sounding. It has a medium baffle […]

Brian Powell Refaced NY Link 7*
This is a NY link that I won off ebay that was advertised as worked on by Theo Wanne. I put my own baffle in it. There is an earlier clip of it on here if you look with a description. I sent it off to Brian Powell and asked him to clean up […]
Early Babbitt HR Otto Link 7* Tenor Mouthpiece
Holy Cow! This piece is great. I just got four pieces back today from Brian Powell. This is the Jon Van Wie refaced link that has a clip posted of it last year. This piece always played nice but didn’t have any guts to it. I really couldn’t dig in with it. I played another […]
Morgan 8M Tenor Mouthpiece
Happy New Year! This is a Morgan piece that I won off ebay. These are the best mouthpieces for the price out there. I’ve owned 3 of these as well as 3 of his clarinet mouthpieces. Very consistent work. You know when you order a Morgan that you won’t get a dud. […]
LAW Rollover 8B Tenor Mouthpiece
This is one of four rollover baffle pieces I received from Lawrence Waldron. These are all pieces with smooth rollover baffles similar to metal links (but prettier). They are different than the first high baffled piece that I recieved from Lawrie that is more like a Guardala Brecker baffle in that the baffles are a […]
LAW Rollover 7*D Tenor Mouthpiece
This is one of four rollover baffle pieces I received from Lawrence Waldron. He is in the UK and makes LAW saxophone mouthpieces. This one has a baffle in-between the IV and II model that I have also posted clips for.
LAW Rollover 7* IV Tenor Mouthpiece
This is one of 4 rollover baffle mouthpieces I received from Lawrence Waldron. This has the highest and longest baffle of the four. I think the chamber is smaller because the baffle runs through it. This sounds the brightest to me of the four.
LAW Rollover 7* II Tenor Mouthpiece
This is one of 4 rollover baffle pieces I received from Lawrence Waldron. This is a LAW 7* II. This one has the lowest baffle of the four I believe. Darker sound. Very pretty. Doesn’t have the cut or projection of the 8B but has a nice dark sound.
Theo Wanne NY Link .110 Tenor Mouthpiece
I bought a Theo Wanne Link mouthpiece off ebay. When I received it in the mail , it was way too bright for me. It had that Brecker type baffle in it that made it super bright. I took a screw driver and with a little pressure popped the baffle out (It’s a NY link […]
Phil Barone New York 7* Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece-First Review
*This is the first mouthpiece I reviewed back in 2006 when I started Neffmusic.com. This is pretty sad as far as an in-depth review goes. I had no idea what to write about or say about this mouthpiece. Who would have guessed that these clips below would turn into a 15+ year passion and hundreds […]
Freddie Gregory Mark IV 7** Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece
Here’s a hard rubber Freddie Gregory Mark IV 7** tenor saxophone mouthpiece. I really miss this tenor sax mouthpiece. I sold it not too long after I bought it because I thought it was too bright. To be honest, there were quite a few gigs I had during that time that were amazing with this […]
Florida/Early Babbitt HR Link 7* Tenor Mouthpiece
This is a piece I bought about 4 years ago. I got caught up in the whole “slant” hard rubber link thing and I emailed a guy who had a slant. He had just sold it but said he had this piece that was as good or better than any slant he had ever played. […]
Drake Double Ring Ceramic Tenor Mouthpiece
This is a tenor mouthpiece by Aaron Drake at Drake Ceramic Mouthpieces. He has been generous enough to send two tenor mouthpieces for me to try. These are called “Double Ring” Jazz and a Contemporary. They are both .110 tips. These mouthpiece are very unique in that they are made of ceramic. I was a bit […]
Theo Wanne Gaia 7* Tenor Mouthpiece
This is a new Theo Wanne mouthpiece called the Gaia. He advertises this on http://www.theowanne.com/ as being close to a Florida Link type of sound. I have to say that out of the Theo Wanne pieces I have played so far this is my favorite. The higher baffle Wanne mouthpieces were too bright for what […]
