Tune of the Week-Well You Needn’t

In this “Tune of the Week” lesson, I tackle a standard tune by Thelonius Monk entitled “Well You Neednt”.

This is a jazz standard that is found in most Real Books.  It is a bit different than most standard jazz tunes in that the chord progression  moves in half steps throughout most of the tune.

I show you what tools I use to improvise over the changes to this standard tune and demonstrate them for you.

I play the soprano saxophone on this lesson and have included 3 play-alongs for you to practice to as well as PDFs with the changes.  There is a slow tempo play along, a medium tempo play along and a fast tempo play along.
