In this lesson, I teach you a new overtone exercise that I have been working on over the last week as I work on different Michael Brecker altered fingering licks for the member’s area of my site. As I was working on the Brecker licks, I noticed some common themes using overtones that I turned into an exercise to get better at “voicing” the overtones and altered fingerings.
I’ve seen a big improvement since I started this exercise and wanted to share it with all of you. This is not easy and I find it quite challenging but if you want to start mastering some of the more advanced Michael Brecker lines that use altered fingerings then this is a great warm up to start adding to your practice regime.
I demonstrate the concepts in this lesson on the tenor saxophone. (34 Minute Video Lesson)
