{"id":8244,"date":"2013-05-15T07:30:20","date_gmt":"2013-05-15T12:30:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.neffmusic.com\/blog\/?post_type=product&#038;p=8244"},"modified":"2019-08-13T11:50:46","modified_gmt":"2019-08-13T15:50:46","slug":"4-note-groupings-lesson-3","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/www.neffmusic.com\/blog\/product\/4-note-groupings-lesson-3\/","title":{"rendered":"4 Note Groupings Lesson 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Most jazz improvisation teachers will teach on 4 note groupings at one point or another.\u00a0 I had a few teachers as I was growing up that taught me this way.\u00a0 I remember studying out of &#8220;Patterns for Jazz&#8221; when I was a kid and working on 4 note groupings in every key.\u00a0 I also studied it with the great jazz improvisation teacher Jerry Bergonzi as well as learning about them at Berklee.<\/p>\n<p>To be honest, every time I studied this method when I was younger, I hated it.\u00a0 It was not until years later, as I look back, that I realize the great benefit that these studies had for me.\u00a0 In this video series,\u00a0 I will try to teach you this concept in a way that is appealing and understandable.<\/p>\n<p>In this third lesson on 4 note grouping, I focus on taking simple 4 note groupings from lesson 1 and teach you how to use them as 5679 of another chord. I show you how to work through them so that you can choose the ones you like the best.<br \/>\nThis is the third lesson in a series of lessons on this topic.\u00a0 As we move through the series you will discover how to use these 4 note groupings as melodic material to use in your improvised solos.\u00a0 This is a great lesson to learn about all the possibilities that a simple four notes can give you.
