A hemiola is a repeated pattern played over a constant pulse that sets up a polyrhythm.\u00a0 In this lesson I talk about\u00a0 the concept of playing a simple rhythm in 3 over a tune with a 4\/4 time signature. This is a concept that I use sparingly now in my playing but that can setup some very interesting lines that will break you away from your cliche licks and finger patterns.
