Playing Outside-A Study in 4ths-Lesson 2 is the second lesson of a new lesson series exploring different ways to use patterns in 4th to take a line \u201coutside\u201d the chord changes.<\/p>\n
In this lesson, we continue working with more 4th patterns in a variety of keys. Although the note sequences are the same, the patterns are written in 7\/8, 6\/4, 5\/4 and 5\/8. We start applying the lines to some chords and discuss how to use them inside the chord sound as well as outside.<\/p>\n
The purpose of lesson one is to get the student started down the road to mastery of this interval so that they can use these lines \u201cat will\u201d while improvising.<\/p>\n
