{"id":879,"date":"2009-12-21T11:50:12","date_gmt":"2009-12-21T16:50:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.neffmusic.com\/blog\/?p=879"},"modified":"2014-01-16T11:21:51","modified_gmt":"2014-01-16T16:21:51","slug":"morgan-6j-soprano-mouthpiece","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.neffmusic.com\/blog\/2009\/12\/morgan-6j-soprano-mouthpiece\/","title":{"rendered":"Morgan 6J Soprano Saxophone Mouthpiece"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"left\">This is an old Morgan 6J soprano mouthpiece that a student of mine let me borrow. \u00a0 These were made by the legendary Ralph Morgan. \u00a0Ralph passed away in 2007 and it was a great loss to the saxophone world. \u00a0I&#8217;ve told this story before but one time I had a Morgan mouthpiece that was refaced by Jon Van Wie. \u00a0I was complaining that I wasn&#8217;t really digging it online and the next thing I know I get an email from Ralph asking to talk to me on the phone. \u00a0I called him up and he talked to me about mouthpieces and the saxophone for what seemed like an hour. \u00a0He offered to look at the piece and reface it for free if it needed it. \u00a0It seemed like he knew the answer to every question I had and he really seemed to enjoy talking about \u00a0the saxophone and mouthpieces. \u00a0It was a great experience to be able to talk to him like that.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">I really enjoyed playing this mouthpiece. \u00a0 The tone has a nice ring to it. \u00a0From what I have heard the tip opening of this 6J is a .065. \u00a0It is very easy to play with a Java 2 1\/2 reed. \u00a0 This piece is a lot easier to play in the second register than my SS J. It seems like there is less resistance to it than the Super Session.
