Brian at <a href=\"http:\/\/sax-ccessories.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sax-ccesories<\/a> in California was nice enough to send me this mouthpiece to review for you today.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/public.neffmusic.com\/MFRTop.jpg\" rel=\"shadowbox\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"border: 0px initial initial;\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/public.neffmusic.com\/MFRTop.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"280\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Morgan Fry Rhodium Large Chamber Tenor Mouthpiece<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The mouthpiece I received to review is a 7* and is absolutely beautiful.\u00a0\u00a0 Everything about it is perfect.\u00a0 The silver plating is smooth and reflective.\u00a0 It&#8217;s almost like looking in a mirror (you can almost\u00a0 make me out in the pictures with my camera&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;.)\u00a0\u00a0 The table, rails and tip look perfect.\u00a0 The rails and tip are about the best I have ever seen.\u00a0 The baffle is a high rollover with a bit of a scooped descent into a large chamber.\u00a0 The side walls are scooped out\u00a0 everything is as smooth as silk in there.\u00a0 Not a ripple or flaw anywhere.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/public.neffmusic.com\/MFRBaffle.jpg\" rel=\"shadowbox\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/public.neffmusic.com\/MFRBaffle.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"280\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Morgan Fry Rhodium Large Chamber Tenor Mouthpiece<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Here are some words about the mouthpiece from Morgan Fry&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/morganfrymouthpieces.com\/content\/tenor-rhodium-large-chamber\" target=\"_blank\">website<\/a>:<\/p>\n<div id=\"slide_p\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>\u201cThe quintessential jazz mouthpiece<\/em><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Flexible, brilliant sound<\/li>\n<li>Rich, balanced tone<\/li>\n<li>Fast, even response<\/li>\n<li>For everything from jazz to funk and pop styles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>Concept and construction<\/p>\n<p>Redesigning the round chamber for the modern player&#8211;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Medium-large round chamber<\/li>\n<li>Medium length rollover baffle<\/li>\n<li>CNC Machined from solid brass bar<\/li>\n<li>Fully hand finished by <a href=\"http:\/\/morganfrymouthpieces.com\/content\/tenor-rhodium-large-chamber#\">Morgan Fry<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Rhodium plated for an enduring beauty<\/li>\n<li>Standard size &#8212; fits any ligature for an Otto Link<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/public.neffmusic.com\/MFRBaffle2.jpg\" rel=\"shadowbox\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"border: 0px initial initial;\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/public.neffmusic.com\/MFRBaffle2.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"280\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Morgan Fry Rhodium Large Chamber Tenor Mouthpiece<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The mouthpiece was easy to play with a Woodstone 2 1\/2 tenor reed.\u00a0\u00a0 It came with a Rovner ligature but in general I don&#8217;t like those too much.\u00a0 They tend to make the tone darker and duller in my opinion.\u00a0\u00a0 I put on a silver Selmer 404 ligature and that immediately brightened up the tone and made it a bit more vibrant and alive.<\/p>\n<p>In my opinion, the tone of the Morgan Fry Rhodium is a good mix between dark and bright.\u00a0 There is an aspect of the tone that sounds darker to me but at the same time I heard a nice ring and vibrancy in the tone.\u00a0 The mouthpiece has a nice compact and focused sound to it and is very very smooth sounding from note to note.\u00a0 When you listen to the sound clip you can hear the smooth and even sound between the notes in the runs.\u00a0 The high notes really sang out.\u00a0 Down low it sub-toned nicely.\u00a0 The intonation was great.<\/p>\n<p>The altissmo was easy to get once I adjusted my throat and voicing position to get it. It&#8217;s very similar to getting altissimo out of an Otto Link.\u00a0 Some of you might see the higher baffle profile and think this is more like a Guardala or Berg type mouthpiece but that is not the case.\u00a0 This was\u00a0 like playing a really great Otto Link in my opinion.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 More like a florida link because it had more punch and power like the florida links had.\u00a0 Not as bright as an &#8220;Early Babbitt link though.<\/p>\n<p>I gave this mouthpiece a 3.5 rather than a 4 for volume&#8230;&#8230;..not because it wasn&#8217;t loud but more because I felt like I could only get so much air through it and then the volume would hit a max level.\u00a0 I couldn&#8217;t push it louder.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t get me wrong, it was plenty loud, but&#8230;&#8230;..I like to have that option to push it into overdrive if I need to.\u00a0 I&#8217;d be interested in perhaps trying an 8 in the future since I can usually push more air through a slightly larger tip opening.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/public.neffmusic.com\/MFRChamber.jpg\" rel=\"shadowbox\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"border: 0px initial initial;\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/public.neffmusic.com\/MFRChamber.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"280\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Morgan Fry Rhodium Large Chamber Tenor Mouthpiece<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I really enjoyed playing the Morgan Fry Rhodium Large Chambered mouthpiece.
