{"id":6008,"date":"2012-01-09T15:01:55","date_gmt":"2012-01-09T20:01:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.neffmusic.com\/blog\/?p=6008"},"modified":"2014-01-16T14:58:04","modified_gmt":"2014-01-16T19:58:04","slug":"marmaduke-hard-rubber-alto-mouthpiece","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.neffmusic.com\/blog\/2012\/01\/marmaduke-hard-rubber-alto-mouthpiece\/","title":{"rendered":"Marmaduke Hard Rubber Alto Mouthpiece"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today, I am reviewing a new alto saxophone mouthpiece that is made by Alex Miyatake in Japan. \u00a0 I have reviewed one of the Marmaduke tenor mouthpieces in the past. \u00a0 These alto mouthpieces are brand new\u00a0 and I am excited to try them out. \u00a0 I am trying two alto mouthpieces today.\u00a0 One has a .072 tip opening (5) and the other has a .078 tip opening (6).\u00a0 They both have a 20mm long facing curve and a medium large chamber.\u00a0\u00a0 The chamber looks very close to the size of a medium Meyer size chamber.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/public.neffmusic.com\/MarmAltoTop.jpg\" rel=\"shadowbox\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"border: 0px initial initial;\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/public.neffmusic.com\/MarmAltoTop.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"280\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Marmaduke Hard Rubber Alto Sax Mouthpiece<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>These Marmaduke alto saxophone mouthpieces look great.\u00a0 The tip and rails are thin and even.\u00a0 The tip matches the shape of my reeds perfectly.\u00a0 I used a Ishimori Woodstone 3 reed on these clips and both mouthpieces played great with that reed. The mouthpieces have a slight rollover baffle<em>.\u00a0 <\/em>The chamber is about the size of a medium Meyer chamber.<em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/public.neffmusic.com\/MarmAltoBaffle.jpg\" rel=\"shadowbox\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"border: 0px initial initial;\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/public.neffmusic.com\/MarmAltoBaffle.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"280\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><strong><strong><strong>Marmaduke Hard Rubber Alto Sax Mouthpiece<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I played the .072 tip mouthpiece first.\u00a0 This was the 5.\u00a0 It had a nice crisp brightness to the sound.\u00a0 Even though the notes were bright and tone was thick and fat in my opinion.\u00a0 It reminded me of that vintage &#8220;Meyer&#8221;
