{"id":4677,"date":"2011-05-01T16:13:40","date_gmt":"2011-05-01T21:13:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.neffmusic.com\/blog\/?p=4677"},"modified":"2014-01-16T15:01:23","modified_gmt":"2014-01-16T20:01:23","slug":"jon-van-wie-meyer-tenor-saxophone-mouthpiece","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.neffmusic.com\/blog\/2011\/05\/jon-van-wie-meyer-tenor-saxophone-mouthpiece\/","title":{"rendered":"Jon Van Wie Meyer Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This is a modern Meyer tenor saxophone mouthpiece that I recently bought.\u00a0 This one is a 7 that was refaced by the late great Jon Van Wie to a .105 tip opening.\u00a0 I knew that if Jon Van Wie had refaced it then it would be a great example of what a Meyer could do.\u00a0 I was very curious to try this mouthpiece because I have never tried a Meyer on tenor before.\u00a0 Of course, Meyer is a big name when it comes to alto players but I have never met a tenor player who played a Meyer and was curious to see what it played like.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/public.neffmusic.com\/JVWMeyerTenorTop.jpg\" rel=\"shadowbox\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"border: 0px initial initial;\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/images\/stories\/easygallery\/88888894\/JVWMeyerTenorTop.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"280\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Jon Van Wie Refaced Meyer Tenor Sax Mouthpiece<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">As you can see from the pictures, this mouthpiece is in great shape.\u00a0 The tip, rails and table all look perfect to the eye.\u00a0 The mouthpiece has a nice high rollover baffle on it.\u00a0 The chamber is more of a medium or small size.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not sure how Meyer would rank it but if you compare the bottom picture to an Otto Link chamber this one is quite small in comparison.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/public.neffmusic.com\/JVWMeyerTenorBaffle.jpg\" rel=\"shadowbox\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"border: 0px initial initial;\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/images\/stories\/easygallery\/88888894\/JVWMeyerTenorBaffle.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"280\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The mouthpiece played great.\u00a0 The Rigotti 3 Light played very easily.\u00a0 The bottom end of the horn was nice and lush sounding.
