Mastering The Dominant Bebop Scale
The Dominant Bebop Scale is a scale that can be used over a dominant chord. It has both the major 7th and the flat 7th in the scale so in the key of G the scale would be GABCDEFF#G. The reason that the dominant bebop scale sounds so great is that when it is started on any of the dominant chord tones (G7 would have the chord tones of G,B,D or F) the downbeats of your lines will all be chord tones.
Poll of 9 Tenor Mouthpieces
I decided to run a poll for 9 sound clips I just made of my last 9 tenor mouthpieces. I’m having a heck of a time deciding which ones to sell and I figured it would help me to play them side by side and record them. On all 9 clips I’m just playing a simple Bb blues( C for tenor) I’m trying to keep it relatively simple so the clips are similar. Each one was with the same Java 2 1/2 reed and I was standing about 2 feet from the mic. Take a listen and let me know which one you like the best and help me decide. Read the rest of this entry »
