Every once in a while, I get a visitor to who sends me a message like this:

“Steve, I love your site and would love to make a purchase but the URL of my browser says that the website is not secure. It also says that I should not enter any sensitive information on the site like passwords or credit card information because it could be stolen. Here is a screen shot.”

Although this is a scary message that a browser can tell you, I want to reassure everyone of the security and safety at If you look at the checkout page URL in the picture below you can see that the checkout page is 100% secure.

The checkout page is where you enter all of your personal and “sensitive” information.  I have what is called an SSL/TLS certificate (Secure Sockets Layer/Transport Layer Security). This certificate is important because information is encrypted by the user’s web browser’s SSL protocol before being sent across the Internet.

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is the standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. This link ensures that all data passed between the web server and browsers remain private and integral.

You will also notice that if you go to the “My Account” page of the site, it is also protected and secured by SSL as this is the page you would use to create a username and password.

The reason that some page URLs say they are unsecure is because those are pages where you don’t have to enter “sensitive” information and there is no need for an SSL certificate to be applied to those pages.

You can be rest assured that is safe and secure and uses the industry standard in security and encryption for account and checkout processes.   I hope this answers any concerns you may have.

Thanks,   Steve
