If you've always wanted that big resonant sound you hear from your favorite players, but don't know how to set about achieving it. If you've spent a small fortune on different mouthpieces searching for your own personal sound, this lesson is for you.

"Developing a Great Saxophone Sound," shows you how to get the most out of the equipment you already have. I teach you how to practice filling the horn with air to get a big full sound on your saxophone. I talk about the saxophone mouthpiece and finding the "sweet spot" on your mouthpiece that will give you a huge sound whilst still enabling you to play with control and finesse. I demonstrate the mistakes common to many students and how to make the simple changes that will expand and open up your sound immediately.
I discuss the embouchure and its role in shaping your sound and controlling the reed. I also demonstrate how your throat and tongue position affect your tone and provide suggestions and tips that will help you experiment and learn to shape your tone to create a unique and personal saxophone sound. I also look at overtones and reveal how working on the overtones can help add richness to your sound across the full range of the horn. I discuss the role of listening to the saxophone masters and the importance of developing a clear mental concept of your ideal sound.

I haven't felt so good about my playing in about six years. What did it for me was your lessons on sound production and placement of the bottom lip. I used to tuck my bottom lip over my teeth. I used to get a OK sound in the middle of the horn but the bottom notes and high notes sucks.Try as I may I could not get the altismo G the other altismo notes with now and again success but never clear. Now that I moved my bottom lip just in front of my teeth BAM!! My bottom notes are clear and round my middle notes sing with a lot more partials my high notes is a dream to hit and my altismo, well I spent the whole day yesterday just playing the altismo area it was so clear the G needs some more work but its nice and round and in tune. What a revelation after so many years of frustration. I now realised why my pratice was sporadic it was because of these issues. I think I am now on my way to being the player I always dreamed I could be.
